A Striking Good Time...with Fun to Spare!

Last Thursday we went to dinner with Aunt Ishe (Sally) and her fiance Ron. After dinner we took the kids bowling for the first time! Not bad...gotta love bumpers. Caden got a 96 and Alli an 84!

Yep our little girl is now a big kindergartner! I can hardly believe it! Today was her first real day of school. She didn't even need mom to walk her in to her class. Thanks to her big brother and neighbor Noah for making sure she found the right room! I will say I have no idea what they are doing at school but our little gator has more energy when she gets off the bus than I have ever seen! Mom held up pretty well today. I am scrapbooking this week at camp Nancy! Thanks for keeping me smiling Nancy! Alli was so excited about school. YaYa took her out to buy her a new outfit for the first day. Those who know her well please note the Paris outfit! Only 12 1/2 years till our trip! Sorry for the delay in the post...despite the scrapping...last week was spent with lots of mommy/daughter time! thanks to all of those who have offered encouraging words and prayers on our behalf this week!

These are days..to remember...

I can't believe Caden started 1st grade today! He loved it! I think it helps he has lots of friends from his class last year and he is most excited about having his best friend and neighbor Noah in there as well! Tomorrow is Alli's big day- Kindergarten, but for our last hoorah we went to see the American Girl movie with YaYa for a girls day out. What a fun day! Pray for me tomorrow...I think the tears are going to pour.

O beautiful for spacious skies...

Ever since Alli graduated from MBK in May we have been hearing the sweet sounds of this song. So it of course was appropriate for our little song bird to sing it for us on the 4th! We had two families over to celebrate the big day. Andy smoked a beef brisket and we also enjoyed a true American dish...homemade apple pie! Thanks to the Bunns for the yummy pie ! (made from apples from their yard). After lunch we let the kids swim in the hot tub and then we set off a few fireworks. Since school starts soon we decided to pass on the fireworks at the fairgrounds and watch them on TV. Good thing since the weather didn't cooperate and they were rained out! Here are a few pic. Happy 4th of July and this also reminds us of how blessed we are to live in the USA! Thank you to Paul and all the other men and women who serve our country!

Let's Go Super Duper Fast!

Well our dare devil Alli is always up for a challenge! Our friends the Centenos invited us up to their lake house for a weekend away! It was so fun to spend time relaxing, playing games and going fast! Alli could not get enough of the jet ski! Her favorite thing to do was go super duper fast and spin it out!

The Wheels on the Car....

no they don't just go round in round! The kids and I spent our lunch hour delivering meals to those who can't get out on their own. I was fully prepared to drive all of over town but much to my surprise we only drove about 9 miles total! Thanks Meals on Wheels for the awesome directions. Both Caden & Alli helped deliver the meals and I think their smiles went a long way with the folks we delivered to. This also gave me the opportunity to talk to the kids about how we can help others who need our help. When I asked them why we should Alli replied with "because that will put a smile on God's face!" and Caden quickly added "and we can be more like Jesus, you know how he did that thing with the fish and chips!" I couldn't help but laugh...so true and so innocent! I encourage each of you to put a smile on God's face and enjoy delivering some fish n chips!

Disneyworld of Fayetteville???

Well it may as well have been! Last week I took the kids on a mini road trip to Fayetteville, NC. Why you might ask well...Susan, Paul & Maddie were visiting their Harmony while Paul was working on Post for a few days. Since we are still tracked out I thought we would head down, visit with family and learn a little more about being Army Strong! After getting to Fayetteville we played with Maddie and Alli collected some more pine cones for Mr. Carron's collection (started by Alli at Susan's shower). Susan was able to go with us to the Airborne & Special Operations Museum. For those of you with boys (Big or Little) this is a must stop. Of course there is tons of history in this building. In fact some parts of the museum bring tears to your eyes! Of course our biggest surprise was Caden's ability to see the soldier in the bushes! I wonder how many people visit this museum and miss this guy? If you look really close at the back of the helicopter you can see the bushes.

We also bought tickets to the museum ride. Thanks Mr. Walt for all your hard work. This was such a cool ride...we rode a motorcycle, jumped out of an airplane, went skiing and drove a hum v!

Once the ride was over we hopped in our real car and went on post. Not growing up in a military family this was all new to me and the kids. They were so excited every time they saw a person in military uniform, it didn't matter if they were riding in a hum v or mowing the grass or simply eating lunch at the next table. We stopped by the PX before we left and Caden found a uniform in his size! We had to get a photo with him & Paul! It was a great trip to the Disneyworld of Fayetteville!
